VIRGINIA
A six-month investigation into the life and death of Virginia Giuffre, reported with Melissa Fyfe for The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald and WAtoday.
Through court records, confidential sources, diaries, notes, text messages, and exclusive interviews, the investigation reconstructed key events surrounding Virginia’s final months and examined her interactions with police and the courts in Western Australia.
The reporting explored domestic and family violence, coercive control and systemic failures in the protection of victim-survivors.
During our investigation, WA Police launched an internal review. Our subsequent reporting prompted the WA Ombudsman to examine police interactions with Giuffre.
